Asleep in Our Faith

So I've been back for a little over 3 weeks from my almost-month long mission trip in Southern Mexico. Since my return, I've been busy to the max! I've been working on revamping my youth group and working on various independent projects for Insight Magazine, Amazing Facts, and of course, my own Youth Ministry.

I finished a special report for Insight Magazine's special UW edition and I am hard at work on MIQ, Most Important Questions, the first ever satellite evangelistic meeting series for youth! Whoooo! I'm excited to a be a part of this series by leading out in coordinating for my church, a host church for the series. Overseeing the logistics being planned gets me excited every day for the event. Tomorrow, I am launching a marketing campaign to reach the youth leaders and youth pastors in and around the San Gabriel Valley (A part of Southern California) about the event.

Since my return from my mission trip, I've been noticing our churches and how so many are so complacent in their faith. It's saddening. I zoom in on the youth departments of these churches around and I hear of fun event after fun event none, of which does anything to help grow the spiritual relationships of our Young People with God. It's all about the fun. Many are doing good in churches but they are empty spiritually. Many are calling themselves Christians but are without a relationship with God Himself. Many are getting caught in doing the works of God but forget to spend time with the God of the works. Many young people all over are questioning the reality of God and the validity of His Word and thus start leaving the church.

Our churches are asleep. What can we do? What will YOU do?

First focus on yourself. Constantly searching The Word, not just reading, but searching and studying The Word. This is one big communication link from God to You. Prayer. Prayer is your communication link to God. Say your prayer from the heart and let it not be repetitive. If you don't know what to say then simply say that! "God, I don't know what to say right now..." and take it from there. Once you have your relationship strong, focus on your family. I call it the 3 characteristics of a Christian. Bible. Prayer. Outreach/Witness.

Then, be the light for the world. (Matthew 5:14-16)
