Today was a good day!
This morning, I led my youth group meeting at my church and we brought up Myspace and how all week long we are plugged into the world. We're plugged in through our cell phones, laptops, internet, iphones, ipods etc. However, based on our key verse found in Exodus 31:17, even God unplugged Himself from his work in the world. He stopped His work to rest and refresh.
If you think about it, even our own electronics need to be rested, right? Your phones need to be charged. Your laptops need to be recharged. Your cameras too. We as human beings need to recharge as well; Spiritually, physically, and mentally. But we can only do that by plugging into God by setting aside all of our worldly distractions on the seventh day of the week.
The problem is not that we are more connected than ever in the existence of humanity. The problem is that we are so addicted to what we receive through these connections that in order to rest, we need to unplug ourselves in order to plug into God.
"You need to unplug to plug into God." -Dr. Dwight Nelson
To read my full study guide on this, you can download it at my website and the title is called "Myspace? ...or Godspace?" Next week I'll be talking about Facebook and "You too" on Youtube.
...But there's more to my day!
This evening, I met with my fundraising planners and coordinators to talk about future fundraisers for my next big mission project next summer. Man, I'm super excited now! I won't share my secret plans just yet, but these fundraising ideas are new and different than my past fundraisers and they include me using my talents and gifts that I am so passionate about doing.
On top of that, hopefully I'll be able to get a few youth members to go on this mission project. For those of you who don't know, I am speaking of the Ultimate Workout mission Trip by Maranatha Volunteers International. It is a mission trip for teens of 14 to 18 years of age. Not only do the youth participants get to help construct churches and help those in need in a different country, but they get to work on their own spiritual relationship with God.
A few of my youth members have shown interest and I really hope they do decide to go so they can not only go on the actual mission project, but be a part of my FUN and EFFECTIVE fundraising campaigns to raise funds to go.
That is where I stand now. Thanks for reading! Your support plays such a huge factor in what I do. Thank You!
